The ABD Community Centre is a unique and valued community resource in the centre of Bacup. Our aim is to provide a resource centre that addresses the wellbeing and needs of local people. We offer room hire, office lets, and a space for organisations, to support the needs of our community.
Anything is possible if there's someone wanting to run it, so get in touch to talk about how we can facilitate your event!

The ABD centre is a registered Charity (charity number 1103149 - Aged Blind and Disabled Centre - (Bacup) Charitable Trust). The name is a legacy from many years ago and in recent consultation with local people they say they would not like to see the name being changed. It is now shortened to The ABD Community Centre and is a fully inclusive and accessible friendly community centre for all people to access and use. The centre is managed by a small and dedicated board of trustees who ensure the centre is warm, safe and welcoming.
All kinds of activities, events, and services have been organised at the ABD. Some examples are: Zumba, circuit training, Slimming World, community meals, mental health support, chess, karate, tai chi, sewing classes, live music/jam, private events, arts and craft classes, social meetups, addiction support, church services, camera club, computer classes, wellbeing classes. The list is endless!
If you have an idea for an event or activity, either a one-off or something you want to do every (other) week or every month, please do get in touch with us to discuss your ideas. Really anything is possible as long as someone wants to run it!
We aim to keep this website up to date with regards to ongoing activities. If you are specifically interested in an activity, it is recommended you get in touch with the organiser if you have any questions or want to know if it's still on. You can find details for current activities HERE.
We also have office lets and as such, longer-term tenants. This has included services such as children's services, addiction support, church services, family support, and local law enforcement information. You can find out who is currently a tenant HERE.
