Social prescribing.
Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service (BPRCVS) delivers a wide range of services to support the health and wellbeing of residents in the communities of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
We are available at the ABD Centre Monday to Friday, but times of availability change frequently. So if you'd like to speak to the team, it's best to contact us via e-mail first.
Description
Helping people to help others is our motto. The aim of BPRCVS is to provide support and guidance to local Voluntary Community Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) groups and organisations, and to support local people to improve their health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
We support groups and organisations to access funding and grants, support their growth and development, make connections and signpost others to them. We promote their activities, services, projects, and events through our marketing channels. We offer payroll services and DBS checks. We support with governance and policies and procedures to name but a few of the things we do.
Our Volunteering for Wellbeing and Community Hub offers volunteering support to both groups and organisations, and individuals. We support groups and organisations with our brokerage service which advises on volunteering matters and assists with recruitment of volunteers. We help local people to find volunteering opportunities that are suitable for them and explain what they can expect from volunteering.
Communicars is a community transport service that relies on volunteer drivers. We help people who would otherwise struggle to get out and about due to mobility issues and/or disability and being unable to access public transport.
Social Prescribing aims to improve the health and wellbeing of local people through accessing the wealth of local community activities and services instead of taking a clinical/medical approach. Through our various projects and services we support all people, but some are specific to certain groups. Check out our website for more information.
Our workforce based at the ABD Centre can speak to members of Adult Social Care and Social Prescribing teams, however Adult Social Care referrals can only be made by Lancashire County Council. Both of these teams can discuss other BPRCVS projects and services with you and support you to make the necessary referrals and connections.
We are a fully non-profit organisation, although some services such as Communicars incur small nominal charges to cover costs.
We accept both self-referrals and referrals from GPs, local and county councils, ambulance service, fire service, other medical professionals, as well as other sources too.
